Long Torso Tankini Swimsuits

Like many women, I must admit that Swimsuit Season is my LEAST favorite season of the year. This is partially due to the fact that I am 5' 11" and find it extremely difficult to find swimsuits to fit my tall torso. One piece suits are simply not long enough for me: the shoulder straps are so tight they force me to stoop, and the cups fall several inches short of where they're supposed to be. I apologize for the visual that must give you! A solution for some tall women might be to sport an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini or other minimalistic attire. Having given birth to four children, my tummy-baring days are long gone. Thankfully, there is a compromise! Enter the long torso tankini!!! With a long torso tankini swimsuit, women can have the coverage of a one piece while having the height flexibility of a two-piece.

Long Torso tankinis are hard to find in stores

I can't think of anything worse to do than spending an entire Saturday driving from store to store trying on swimsuits that don't fit. Most stores carry a variety of one-piece and bikini options for the average-sized woman, but it is extremely difficult for me walk into a store and find a long torso tankini.

Thankfully, we live in the era of the internet, and there are many cute and sexy long torso tankini separates online! It might be a little scary to buy a swimsuit online since you can't try it on beforehand, but most retailers provide sizing charts to help you find the perfect fit just by taking a few quick measurements yourself.

Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your bust.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist (usually near your navel).
Hips: (For Tankini bottoms) Measure around the fullest part of your hips

You might also be able to order your long torso tankini top by your bra size, so have that handy, too.

You've finally found that perfect wedding, party, or special occasion dress. But, it's strapless. What do you wear underneath? Depending on the dress, you'll need a strapless or backless bra. But which one?

That's what started my original search for the perfect strapless bra - a dress I got for a wedding. It was strapless. So, I headed off to the stores to buy a strapless bra. Not as easy as I thought.

The bras in my size were limited. The strapless bras even more so. The pretty strapless bras - practically non-existent. I didn't want to look like a granny (heck, my granny wouldn't have worn any of them; she liked pretty bras). Some of them slid down, others had no support (probably OK for smaller women, but not if you have a large bust).

So, here's a collection of pretty strapless, low back, backless (no back at all), push-up, plus size strapless, and longline or bustier bras. Just the thing for weddings, strapless or backless dresses, and summer tops. And, they all stay up where they're supposed to!

The Marie Jo Avero Strapless Bra rocks! This is the bra I ended up buying for that wedding. It's really pretty, and it stayed up all day long (despite the heat and dreadful humidity).

The straps are decorated with applique daisies (they're so pretty, you almost don't mind if they show). There are matching flowers and lace on the front too. It's all smooth, so nothing shows through.
